As we all know, every imagenae originates from a story. But do you, as an imagenae yourself, truly understand your own origin story? Why don't you follow me and take a look together?
噗噜
Ploos
噗噜诞生的故事,和他们的外表差不多可爱。
The story of how ploos came to be is just as adorable as they are.
据说,一切起源于一位擅长发明的假面愚者。那位愚者觉得独自洗澡太过寂寞,于是制造了一些黄色的小鸭子。这些小鸭子逍遥地漂浮在浴缸上,用力一捏就会发出「噗噜」的声音。这就是噗噜最初的故事。
Legend has it, it all began with a Masked Fool who had a knack for inventions. This particular Fool found bathing alone to be far too lonely, so they created a bunch of little yellow duckies. These duckies floated carefree on the bathtub's surface, and when you gave them a good squeeze, they'd let out a "ploo" sound. And that's the original story of the ploo.
此后,又有某位学者在浴缸中沉思时,竟因为目睹小鸭子的沉浮,而领悟出了物理学的道理。因为那位学者的口癖,至今在二相乐园的一些方言中,噗噜还会被称为「尤哩咔」。
Later on, another scholar was deep in thought while soaking in their bathtub when they witnessed a rubber ducky bobbing up and down, and had a sudden epiphany about the laws of physics! Because of that scholar's signature catchphrase, ploos are still called "Eureka" in some Planarcadian dialects to this day.
但这些小故事还不足以促使噗噜诞生。真正使噗噜成为一个稳定幻造种族群的,是一个可爱的意外。在某次并未造成任何人员伤亡的货船事故中,几百万只黄色玩具鸭子被倾倒入大海,这些小鸭子顺着洋流,展开了环游整个哈托彼亚的大冒险。
But these little stories weren't enough to bring the ploo into being. What truly established them as a stable imagenae species was an adorable accident. During a freight skiff mishap that caused no casualties, millions of yellow rubber duckies were spilled into the ocean. These little ducks rode the currents on an epic adventure around the entire world of Ahatopia.
在这场勇敢的远征之后,现代意义上的「噗噜」就诞生了。这一事件也同时奠定了噗噜一族的底色——可爱、天真、勇往直前。
After this brave expedition, the "ploo" as we know it today was born. This incident also shaped the core traits of the ploo: adorableness, innocence, and a fearless forward spirit.
欧克
Orch
欧克一族的诞生,就稍微有些黑暗了。
The origin story of the orch is a bit on the dark side.
几乎任何一个自诩为文明人的古代民族,都会构建出一种「邪恶的异族野蛮人」的形象。在一些地方,他们是巨人,在另一些地方,他们是蛇或蜘蛛,而在画中世界,他们是兽人「欧克」。毕竟文明总是需要敌人,与其探求对手的真面目,还不如将你的敌人构建成浑身绿色、举止野蛮的怪物,这样更简单一些。
Pretty much every ancient civilization that fancied itself "civilized" cooked up the idea of "those evil barbarian outsiders." In some places, they're giants. In others, they're snakes or spiders. And in the World in Canvas? They're the orch. After all, every civilization needs an enemy, and it's way easier to just paint your foes as green-skinned, brutish monsters than to actually figure out who they really are.
在这种对「异乡人」极度失真的妖魔化叙事中,欧克一族诞生了。他们也不负众望地成为了入画时代的大敌,建立起名为「欧克共和国」的政权,与人类文明长期对立。双方屡次兵戎相见,漫长的血火轮回直到公司进驻才算是彻底结束。
From this grotesquely distorted demonization of "outlanders," the orch was born. And they lived up to expectations, becoming the great enemy of the Canvas Age and establishing a regime known as the "Orch Republic" that stood in opposition to human civilization for ages. Both sides clashed in battle time and again, locked in an endless cycle of bloodshed and war, until the IPC's arrival finally brought it all to an end.
随着文明开化的进程,欧克和其他种族都发现,彼此并不是自己认知中邪恶野蛮的样子。在时光的磨合下,我们也终于彻底和解,共同生活在同一片乐园之中了。
As civilization progressed, the Orch and other species realized that none of them were actually the savage barbarians they'd imagined each other to be. With time, we finally reconciled our differences and now live together in harmony in this shared arcadia.
如今,虽然这种历史上的长期对立早已结束,但其留下的痕迹却仍然存在。时至今日,大部分欧克仍然居住在古代「欧克共和国」的疆域内,那是属于他们的自治区。世居故土的欧克们,也将自己的家乡建造成了巨大的主题公园。
Today, though this long-standing historical rivalry has long since ended, its traces still remain. Even now, most of the orch still live within the borders of the ancient "Orch Republic," which was their autonomous region. The orch who've stayed in their ancestral homeland have transformed it into a massive theme park.
「欧克共和国」这个名字,现在已经成为了二相乐园的一种经典文化符号,代表着欧克们自由、不羁、豪放的生活方式。他们希望所有来访者,都能有机会领悟到,「欧克」这个名字所代表的快乐与豪迈。
The name "Orch Republic" has become an iconic cultural symbol of Planarcadia, representing the orch's carefree, untamed, and bold way of life. They hope that every visitor gets a chance to experience the joy and unbridled spirit that the word "orch" embodies.
月眠
Moonlull
如今,当你仰望幻月之时,一定会看到其上的火箭。当有人问道「幻月上有什么」,「火箭」也总是我们第一个想到的答案。
Nowadays, when you gaze up at the Phantasmoon, you're sure to see the rocket on it. When someone asks "What's on the Phantasmoon?", "rocket" is always the first answer that comes to mind.
然而,对于古人来说,幻月上呈现的赘生物并不是火箭,而是许许多多其他的事物。比如鸟类、小兽、男子与女子。学者们普遍认为这是人类集体的「过拟合现象」,将自然随机生成的图形脑补成了种种符号与象征。
However, to the ancients, the strange shapes observed on the Phantasmoon weren't the rocket, but a multitude of other things: birds, small beasts, men and women. Scholars generally believe this is a case of collective human "overfitting," where naturally random patterns are mentally reconstructed into symbols and meanings.
月眠一族的起源至今仍扑朔迷离,但人们更愿意相信,它们诞生于古人对「幻月上有什么」的幻想性解答——「幻月之上居住着兔子。」
The origins of the moonlull remain shrouded in mystery to this day, but people prefer to believe they were born from the ancients' fantastical answer to the question of what lives on the Phantasmoon: the rabbits.
大概就是因为这样的起源故事,才赋予了月眠一族浪漫、神秘、难以捉摸的个性吧。
It is likely this very origin story that has endowed the moonlull with their romantic, mysterious, and elusive air.
轻脚
Lightpaw
在烬土纪元,人类创造出了很多用于战争的幻造种。轻脚便是其中之一。
During the Cindearth Age, humanity created many imagenaes for warfare. The lightpaw was one of them.
这些灵活又机敏的幻造种,是战争中的先锋斥候。以「轻脚」为其赋名,推测是绘师在幻造时,用于强化刻板认知,辅助这一种族获取愿力的手段。
These nimble and agile imagenaes serve as the vanguard scouts in war. They were given the name "lightpaw," likely a technique used by the artist during imagenesis to reinforce collective cognition and help this species gather Wishpower.
烬土纪元后,大部分为战争而生的幻造种,都不适应承平时代的生活,逐渐消失了,但轻脚不在其列。无论在什么时代,轻脚都有着难以替代的作用。
After the Cindearth Age, most imagenaes bred for war couldn't adapt to peacetime life and gradually faded away, but lightpaws were the exception. No matter the era, lightpaws have always played an irreplaceable role.
毕竟,「跑得快」在任何时候都非常有用。
After all, speed comes in handy no matter the situation.
幽灵
Ghost
与那些「被创造」的幻造种不同,幽灵生成时间、地点完全不可控。
Unlike "created" imagenaes, ghosts manifest at completely unpredictable times and places.
他们是遗憾和执念的产物。已死之人死前强烈偏执的信念,常常会在幻月的光芒下凝结成幽灵。在一些特定的情况下,活人也会产生足以诞生幽灵的执念,这种活人产生的幽灵被称为「我执灵」。
They are born from regret and obsession. The intense, unyielding beliefs of the dead before their final moments often coalesce into ghosts under the light of the Phantasmoon. In certain circumstances, the living can also develop obsessions strong enough to spawn ghosts, known as the "spirit of obsession."
生于执念的幽灵一族盛产偏执狂。不知怎么,这使得幽灵似乎远比他们生前更容易获得世俗成功。也许在某些领域,「偏执」并不算是个负面特质吧。
The ghost born from obsession breeds paranoiacs. Somehow, this seems to make them far more adept at achieving worldly success than they were in life. Perhaps in certain fields, "paranoia" isn't a negative trait after all.
有关幽灵的法律问题总是一团乱麻。幽灵与死者之间严格来说并无关系,但大部分幽灵会认为自己就是那位死者。这导致在幽灵是否有权继承财产和社会关系一事上立法者们长久拉锯,相执不下。
Legal issues involving ghosts are always tangled. Strictly speaking, a ghost bears no relation to the deceased, yet most ghosts consider themselves to be that very person. This entangles lawmakers in a prolonged tug-of-war over whether ghosts have the right to inherit property and social ties.
如果再加上我执灵的问题…天啊,真是法学家最恐怖的梦魇。
And then there's the issue of the "spirit of obsession"... Good heavens, it's a jurist's worst nightmare.
机铠
Mechatrons
机铠的历史并不长,他们在十五年前才诞生。以至于很多人至今都以为,他们是一种公司研发的智械——不,他们和我们一样,都是正宗的、愿力构成的幻造生物。
Mechatrons don't have a long history. They only came into existence fifteen years ago. To this day, many still think they're some kind of Intellitron developed by the IPC. But no, they're just like us: genuine imagenated creature, born from Wishpower.
机铠的诞生,源于二相乐园人类对巨型机甲的精神崇拜。在公司的文化冲击下,随着时代变化与受众的审美转变,绘师们在创作时,也开始迎合起了当下的潮流。
Mechatrons were born from humanity's spiritual worship of giant mechs in Planarcadia. Under the IPC's cultural influence, as times changed and audience tastes shifted, artists began catering to contemporary trends in their work.
因此,他们创作出了源源不断的「机器人」题材作品。从这些作品中诞生的机器人幻造种,也因具备更强的性能,而慢慢拥有了更高的社会地位。
And so, they churned out an endless stream of works featuring "robots." The robot imagenae born from these works, boasting superior performance, gradually climbed the social ladder and earned themselves higher status.
如今,机铠已经成了二相乐园不可或缺的社会组成部分。他们兢兢业业地搬运货物、维护治安、打理机器。身形高大的机铠会像起重机般参与高楼大厦的建设。更有些超巨型机铠会参与到保卫二相乐园的工作中去,与异常防御部一起对抗异常的侵扰。
These days, mechatrons have become an indispensable part of Planarcadia's social fabric. They diligently haul cargo, maintain public order, and manage machinery. The towering mechatrons participate in the construction of skyscrapers like cranes. Furthermore, some super-sized mechatrons even join the defense of Planarcadia, working alongside the Department of Aberration Defense to combat aberrant incursions.
不过机铠一族最主要的工作,毫无疑问,还是出演机器人题材的影视作品。
But the mechatrons' main gig is, without doubt, starring in robot-themed movies and shows.
